DOB July 30 Washoe County State of Nevada Saint Mary's Hospital At his time of birth, Mark's adoptive parents, Mary and David, lived in Berkeley. I was 21 years old when Mark was born and felt that my child deserved to be in a loving, stable family environment which is why I chose his parents, David and Mary. My instincts told me that this was the right decision. Mary and David were quite loving and supportive to me. I missed them deeply when our correspondence ended. When Mark was three, Mary called me after hearing through the grapevine that I had been inquiring about her son. She was understandably protective and also confused as to why i would want to make contact all of the sudden. There had never been a moment that I hadn't wanted contact, but this was diffucult for me to explain at the time because I hadn't been honest with myself. I was afraid to put my engagement at risk by having a relationship with my birth child, not my fiance's child. I was afraid he would leave me and afraid to be alone. During our conversation, Mary told me that they had recently adopted another child and that Mark was very proud to be a big brother. It was 10 o'clock and by chance Mark awakened while we were still on the phone. I was able to hear him ask sweetly for a glass of milk. Talking with me and Mark's unexpected presence seemed to cause Mary undue stress. I attempted no further contact. The most important thing to me was for Mark to have happy healthy parents and I couldn't bring myself to even send any of the letters I had written to explain. I felt it would be selfish. I would dearly love to talk with Mark and meet him if this would be a positive experience for him and not hurtful to his family. I am certain that my parents and extended family feel the same way. Mark was the first born 10 second cousins on my mother's side and 9 on my father's side. I have one sister and she has one amazing daughter, age four. This is Mark's only first cousin. My lack of contact over the years only reflects my desire that Mark have the most normal upbringing possible, with the least amount of stress on his parents. I have always held love in my heart, and prayed with my whole being that he would find me in time. If I were an adopted child, I would want to engage this process at my own pace. I am hear to say that I would welcome any communication with an open heart and mind, with soul deep appreciation. Your creation was the greatest miracle I've witnessed and as I watched your parents dress you from your hospital clothes, awkwardly with the greatest of care, like you were an odd shaped egg shell. I knew that you were in the hands of exceptional parents. I saw a family. Ana | |||||||||||||||||||||
