I am searching for my birth parents. I was adopted in 1950 by Joseph and Hazel Cooley of Oklahoma City. I was born in the Edmond Hospital, Edmond, Oklahoma, which was at that time located over the old theater on Broadway in downtown Edmond. I have no records of the adoption. All I have is the receipt from the hospital showing that my adoptive parents agreed to pay the entire bill for the birth and hospital stay for my birth mother and myself. The only clue I have is that her name is listed as Genevieve on the bill. When I was about 16 years old, my adoptive mother (who I loved dearly and who is now deceased) I went to see Dr. Zhivago with her and when we left the theater she asked if I'd ever wanted to know anything about my birth mother. I wasn't really interested at the time and said only if she wanted to tell me. Well, the only thing she told me was that my mother was a nurse. Now, my adoptive parents are both deceased, and as they were older when they got me, there is no one left alive of their generation and none of the younger generation knows anything about it. The abscense of official records in their papers has intrigued me enough that I now decided to try and research the adoption and possibly find my birth family.
