Looking for daughter born december 7, 1974 in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois approx 1:00am. I think the name of the hospital was Mercy Hospital. Baby Girl Garren was adopted by a family previously arranged and a name for her was chosen by the adopting family. The adoption was handled by an attorney in Charleston, Illinois through a social service in Charleston. Unknown if adopting family was from Charleston area or Champaign area, but was told they had adopted a boy once before and they were wanting a girl. I was not allowed to know anything about the adopting family or arrangements for adoption back then, but i did get to hold her while in the hospital and recall her hair had a hint of auburn in it and it made me think of the hint of auburn in her father's beard when he would grow one. Her father and I were students at Eastern Illinois University at the time. He did not want to marry and I was too young and inmature to raise a little one alone. I became acquainted with the Attorney through a soroity sister who somehow knew of his services. The attorney was catholic, I was sent to stay with a catholic family unitl the baby was born and Mercy was a catholic hospital, which leads me to believe the adopting family might be catholic, however this is just speculation on my part. It is my firm belief that everything happens for a reason and this adoption was a definate plan of God and would love to share this story with the adopting family and adopted daughter someday.
