I am searching for my birth mother. I was born in Chatham County, GA on July 21, 1972. I am 35 years old and an African American female. Somehow, I ended up in the care of the Whitfield County, GA DFACS. I have the letter my parents signed in August 2, 1972 agreeing to adopt me. My birth certificate only shows the names of my adoptive parents so the original must be sealed. My adoption wasn't finalized until September 11, 1973. I have no information about what hospital in Savannah I was born in. I don't know my birth mothers' name. My parents did get a letter from Floyd County DFACS in October of 1973 with a picture of a newborn that was supposed to be me, but it was not. I don't know if this was simply another child in the system, or a clue of a multiple birth. Any information would be appreciated.
