Marie Elizabeth Gracie (possibly married into Rushton years later) gave birth to my mother Margaret Joan Cleland (married name Marjoribanks) in Hastings, Victoria, Australia on 3 March 1955. Joan (maiden name Cowan) & Douglas Cleland adopted Mum. Joan & Doug have since past away and Mum passed away from ovarian cancer in 2007. Mum did find her birth mother, Marie Gracie/Rushton in approximately 1990. She was living in Western Australia. Mum's birth mother requested contact stop after some time, we believe it was a family secret. I have three photos of Marie, who Mum looks exactly like. I would love to find my Mum's biological family, if anything to at least tell them about her terminal illness which was heriditary. |
