Surname(s):

DUDELS : FORSYTH : GIESE : JOHNSON

Query Text:

FYI 1904 Nebraska Adoption - "Mrs. Maria Johnson learned of the whereabouts of her daughter, Emma, last week through a letter written by her to her sister Hannah. She is with a family by the name of Dudels near McCook, Nebraska. She has never heard from any of her relatives since she was taken away nearly five years ago. At that time the Court distributed the children of Mrs Johnson among different persons, a Child's Home Society taking Emma away to find her a home. At that time Henry and Hannah were living with Joseph Forsyth and John and Bertha with August Giese. Emma inquires whether they are still at the same places. She also states that she overheard the people with whom she lives talking something about her mother but upon her inquiring they refused to tell her anything. Mrs Johnson now has all her children with her but Emma and as Judge Boyd has ordered the Society to return the girl to the mother, she bids to have her fond hopes realized. The girl will be seventeen years old." - From Pierce County Call newspaper December 16, 1904 page 4 Column 1. I have no personal interest in this case. I am a Nebraska researcher and mother of adopted daughters. As I come across adoption information I post it to be of help to others. Good luck. MJM
