Searching for my birth mother, maiden name Vargo. I was born at 2:25 am on May 30, 1987 in the Cleveland area (Metro General Hospital), and the adoption was closed. At the time of the birth, my birth mother was 20 and the birth father was 39. The birth father was an ex-police officer and manager of a restaurant/bar. There is also an older half brother who I would like to meet who was born in 1985 and was two at the time of my birth. My records state that the birth mother was attending community college at the time of my birth, and planned on continuing her education at a four-year college to pursue a major in accounting. Birth mother is described as having brown eyes and hair and olive skin. The record gives her a weight of 130lbs and a height of 5'7". In high school, she was involved in marching band, flag line, and theatre, and she also enjoys swimming and cross-country skiing. She experienced post-partum depression after the birth of her first child in 1985, and also had a history of hypoglycemia, though this was not a problem after the birth of her son. We think my birth mother's surname is Vargo, after my adoptive mother spotted a bit of paperwork during the adoption. The maternal grandmother is listed as being 5'6" and 44 years of age at the time of the birth. She has "almost black" hair, brown eyes, and light olive skin. She attended 4 years of college and has an aptitude for instrumental music, and had a job as a mechanical engineer. She has an allergy to a chocolate/caffeine combination and reacts with migraine headaches and vomiting; she can tolerate either substance alone. The maternal grandfather is listed as being 6'3" and 46 at the time of the birth. He has dark brown hair, brown eyes, and dark olive skin. He attended 2 years of college and was working as a district salesman at the time of the birth. The maternal aunt was 22 at the time of the birth, and is listed as being 5’6”, with medium brown hair, light brown eyes, and light olive skin. Like the maternal grandmother she has an allergy to a combination of caffeine and chocolate and experiences a reaction in the form of migraine headaches. At the time of the birth, she had a job as a bank teller. The alleged father was described as 5’10”, 165lbs at the time of the birth. He has light brown hair and green eyes. He was 39 years of age at the time of the birth. He was a high school graduate who also had police academy training. Record states that at the time of the birth he was a former police officer and was working as a bar manager. According to the biological mother, he was married and divorced three times, and had a legal name change some time in the 1970’s. The alleged father was adopted as a baby. The only medical history listed for the alleged father was arthritis in his back caused by a back injury resulting from an accident. Additional information provided included that the mother’s paternal great-grandmother was alive at the time of the birth, and was 91 years of age. The mother’s paternal grandfather died in his 50’s of heart failure. The mothers maternal grandmother was living at the time of the birth, but her paternal grandfather died at the age of 73 from a heart attack. The birth mother’s religion is listed as being a non-practicing Lutheran. The birth mother’s nationality is listed as Hungarian, English, and Belgian. It appears that the social worker handling the case through Lutheran Children’s Aid and Family Services was Ruth M. Farkas.
