I was in the Florence Crittenton Home in Charlotte, NC from June 1, 1971. My son was born on October 3, 1971 at 7:20 p.m. weighing 8 lbs. 3 ozs. and 21 inches long. I did not want to give him up but was forced by my father to do so. I am white and I turned 18 on September 21, just two weeks before the birth. His father is black and we both live in Wilkesboro. We both worked for Holly Farms Chicken (now Tyson) on the line. I went by the name of Drake Smith while at the home, but my name is Christine.
