FYI-1880 Nebraska census boy Erwin Smith, 15, date of birth app 1865 living with adoptive parents Elijah and Mellisia Lewis and adopted sister Jessie Knox (born in Missouri) living in North Platte, Lincoln County, Nebraska. Erwin was born in Indiana, his biological parents' place of birth "U.S.". Elijah (42) was born in Virginia and Mellisia (40) was born in Illinois. I have no personal interest in this case. I am a Nebraska researcher and mother of two adopted daughters. As I come across adoption information I post it to be of help to others.
