daughter born in January, 1967 in Columbus, Ohio at St. Ann's Hospital. Adopted immediately to a couple in Huntington, WV, he was an engineer/architect and she, a housewife. I was 19 years old and was sent to Florence Crittendon Home for Unwed Mothers when I became pregnant at 18 and was a complete disappointment to my parents. I lived in Charleston, WV. My child was adopted through the Children's Home Society of Charleston, WV to the people in Huntington and I only got to see my daughter once before she was given to her adoptive parents. I have sent two letters to the Children's Home Society directing the opening of my file for a search by my child, should she want to do so - I have heard nothing, perhaps she doesn not know she's adopted or perhaps she is very angry at me for giving her up for adoption. I had no choice in the matter, I was in my second year of college and my parents told me I would have to take my baby and live on the streets of Columbus if I didn't give her up. They would not let me come home and they would not help me in any manner or way. She was born a month after I turned 19 and I was foolish and stupid to do what my parents told me. I should have known better and I have lived with this grief for over 40 years. She has a brother who is almost 33 years old and a teacher but that doesn't make up for what I did, I have been in agony for so many years and now, in my 60's I'm still in agony. I do know where her father is, he's a judge in Virginia so I'm not going to put his name on this query. I currently live in Maine since retirement and am married to a high school sweetheart that should have been her father instead of that first year college indescretion for which I am eternally sorry.
