Kim Meeja - My American name is Kina Astrowski. I was born in Korea and was placed in a Korean Holt Agency at or around the age of 5-years-old. The last time I saw my Korean family was when I was in a public place (maybe a market but not sure), when an unknown person (stranger) swept me up from under my feet, grabbed me with both of their hands, and placed me inside a vehicle (likely a van). From that moment on, my life was never going to be the same. After I had lived in the Korean Orphange Institution for over a year, I soon became adoptable. I left Korea on a plane to America at the age of 6-years-old. To this day, I still have my adoption papers and a black and white photo. It would be nice to have some sense of closure in my life. |
