I am searching for my Birth Mother. Her name is Betty Jane Sullivan, and at the time of my birth in 1963 she lived in Carmel, New York (Putnam County). She went to Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT. to give birth to me. Two Doctors are named on the papers I have; a Dr. Randolph and a Dr. Schwartz.
I was born at 5:55 PM on Sept 21, 1963. At birth I was given the name Cindy Sonberg, so this may be either my Birth Father's last Name,
or my Birth Mothers Maiden Name. (My Adoptive Parents changed my name to Carrie Lisa Conditto)
She went to great lengths to conceal her pregnancy, even wearing a corsette while pregnant with me, then went to CT to give birth to me. It also says in the papers that I was born out of wedlock.
When my Birth Mother brought me out of the hospital my Adoptive Mother saw her, and said she was a tall, slender redhead with two young boys, aproximate ages between 5 and 10. The Parents who adopted me were Hilda Teague Conditto and Montrose George Conditto, both employed at Harlem Valley State Hospital in Wingdale, NY at the time. My Father also ran a General Store in Wingdale at the time.
We lived in Wingdale which was in the Town of Dover, in Dutchess County, NY. When I was about 5, then we moved to North Carolina, where we have lived ever since.
The Attorney who handled the adoption was a William C. McLaughlin of Pawling NY. The actual adoption would have taken place in Dutchess County, NY. I have one bill from his office dated October 1, 1965, so perhaps it took that long for the adoption to go through. I was also told two things by my Adoptive Mother; that she was told when I was born that my Birth Mother said she had always wanted a little grl, and also that a high ranking Doctor at Danbury Hospital had wanted to adopt me, but the deal was already in place.
There was a friend of both my Birth Mother and my Adoptive mother who acted as a go between and set up the adoption. I don't know her name, but she has since died. I believe she worked with my Adoptive Mother at Harlem Valley State Hospital where my Mom was an LPN.
The State of Connecticut will not release any birth records as of yet; They are still sealed.
Anyone who knew a Betty Jane Sullivan who had two sons in 1963, and who lived in Carmel NY at that time, please contact me with any information you can give me on the wereabouts of my Birth Mother and/or any information on my Brothers or any other siblings I may now have.
I only wish to know who I am; My Family's history, especially the Medical History of both my birth parents, since I now have two Daughters of my own.
I don't want money or anything like that. But I would like to say Thank You to my Birth Mother, for going through the 9 months of misery and then the pain and agony of childbirth instead of chosing to abort me. Thank you for giving me life. I think about her every year on my birthday, and I wonder if she is thinking of me too. I would also like to let her know she is a Grandmother now too, and let my Brother's know they have Neices.
I would appreciate any help on this matter. However, if you are a dectevice agency offering to help me for a fee, Don't waste your time or mine; I cannot afford your services. If I could I would not be posting on every board on the interent!
