looking for Frederick Wicks
Immigrated abt 1899 from England.
Settled in Deadwood South Dakota.
1900 Census as a border.
Married Mertie Weaver 1901
children:
Harold Wicks b. 1902
Gertie b 1903
Robert b 1905
Mary b 1907.
Mary was the first child given up to the South Dakota Children's Home Society in 1910.
Next was Robert in 1911.
I am not sure when Gertie and Harold were placed.
Robert was adopted by family named Elliott in Deuel South Dakota.
I believe Harold by a family named Benson. He was in Mare I sland Naval Ship Yard Hospital in 1920.
Harold went on to marry a woman named of Mamie. They lived in South Dakota??
Mary has been lost to me completely.
Gertie was a bit unruley and was placed several times but did not fair well. I find her in some old records which she married a Frank Frago divorced and married Earnie Semino. She died in Sonoma As did Robert.
I would like to find more on the childhood of these children and their father. Mertie stated he had been gone for 3-4 years when she placed the children . She also stated he was dead about age 34.
Any help here would be great
