My mother's name was Beverly Phillis Rothstein. She was an American citizen and was born on 9 April 1937 in Hartford, Connecticut, USA. At the time, her U.S. address was 1102-1/2 Shenandoah Street, Los Angeles 35, California. Her father was Nathan Rothstein and her mother was Mollie (née Veltman). At the time of my birth, my mother was staying in Ingenbohl, Brunnen (SZ). I also have a "Report of Birth Abroad" from the U.S. Department of State that is dated 4 January 1961. It gives her residence at that time as 7 Salurnerstrasse in Innsbruck, Austria. I was born Richard Rothstein on 9 October 1960, at 17:25 at the hospital in Schwyz. (My birth certificate states the place of birth simply as "Schwyz, Krankenhaus.") I had surgery when I was about 10 days old to correct pyloric stenosis. I have some correspondence with the adoption agency. On the stationery, the top of the page looks like this: [In small lettering on the left-hand side of the page:] Fürsorgestelle: Rapperswil SG Tel. 055-2 11 23 Postcheck VIII 23512 [In large letters on the right-hand side of the page:] Private Mütter- und Kinder-Fürsorge [Below that in smaller letters:] Beratung unverheirateter Mütter [space] Adoptions- und Durchgangspflege-Plätze [Below that:] Rapperswil, den Neue Johnastr. 32 If I recall correctly, the woman at the adoption agency who handled the correspondence with my adoptive parents was named Alice Honneger. My adoptive parents were under the impression that my birth mother had worked at the adoption agency for several months before I was born. It appears that the actual adoption took place between 24 January 1961 and 20 February 1961.
