Surname(s):

ANDERSON : LOGAN : MCCLAIN : VANDERCREEK

Query Text:

I am trying to find any information on my grandma's heritage. We believe that she is 1/2 Native American, however, she was not given a birth certificate or any record to show this. She was born in Wenatchee, Washington on 04/0/1933. She was then sent to the Washington Children's Home in Tacoma Washington, i have no date as to when she was sent there, but she was adopted at 2 1/2 years of age. I am informed that the Washington Children's Home burnt down at sometime, and it is to my understanding that all of her paperwork went up in smoke with the building. Birth Mother's Name: Josie Vandercreek Birth Father's Name: Grey/Gray (Sp?) McClain Adopted Mother's Name: Ethel Josephine Anderson Adopted Father's Name: Alton Ray Anderson She recalls hearing that her biological father (Grey/Gray McClain) was in the Penitentiary for, as her mother put it, "being bad to women" (she assumes he was in for rape or abuse, she may have also been abused as a child). However, she knows nothing of her Biological mother other than her name. She was born Marjory Logan, but changed the spelling to Marjorie while she lived in San Diego during the 1950s. On the original birth certificate, from what she can recall, her parents did not give her a middle name.
