I am tracing my Grandfather's family. He was known to me as John Gowrie b. 1914 - 1974 - he was adopted by a British family in Trinidad. He arrived on a boat from India - then about 9, with his brother - the story is, they stole a bag of coals and when caught - my grandfather got adopted and put to work as a yard boy and his brother was sent to a reformatory.
