I am trying to trace my family further back than my great-grandparents, which is as far as I have gotten. My grandparents were Milan Belon b.6/29/1916-D.9/14/1981...Susanna Halgash Belon b.6/13/1918-d.3/14/1990....John Thomas Donoghue b.6/25/1898-d.8/27/1983...Ellen Gartlan Harkins Donoghue b.12/01/1908.... Milan Belon (Also called Milton) was born in NYC but was raised in Czechoslovakia, most likely the town of Makov. His parents were Vincent Belon and Mariana Hazuka Belon...He had 2 brothers, Stefan and Andrew,he came to America around 1937 and he died in Saratoga County, NY in 1981. Susanna Halgash Belon was born and raised in Beaverdale, Pennsylvania. Her parents were George Halgash and Olenda (Helen) Halgas? Halgash...she had 2 brothers I know of..George and John..and she had 5 sisters that I know of... Helen Sasek, Anna Puchan, Mary Bokus, Betty Gerl and Shirley Zeller (their married names). Her ethnic background is Austro-Hungarian...possibly Slovak or Ukrainian. John T. Donoghue was born and raised in Tuam, Co. Galway; Ireland...his family moved to Athlone in Co. Roscommon at some point and he came to the USA in 1923. His parents were Patrick Donoghue and Bridget Darcy O'Donoghue (she adopted the O)... he had 2 sisters I know of.. Margaret Busch and Clare Donoghue(died as an infant)..he had 4 brothers I know of.. Patrick O'Donoghue, Christopher O'Donoghue, Lawrence O'Donoghue and William Donoghue(William changed his last name to Barrett supposedly and moved out west to Colorado/Arizona area...it is aaid he had a wife and child, but nothing is known about them or who they were). John was married twice, first to Agnes Towey in 1925 and then to Ellen Gartlan Harkins in 1947... Ellen Gartlan Harkins Donoghue was born and raised in Carrickmacross, Co.Monaghan; Ireland. She came to the USA in 1929. Her parents were Patrick Gartlan and Ellen Conlon. She had 4 brothers..James, John, Patrick and Thomas...and she had 1 sister...Roseanne Markey. She was married twice, first to Michael Harkins in 1940...and then to John Donoghue in 1947. Any information from people who could help learn more about My great-grandparents..their parents and siblings etc would be extremely appreciated. Also I know that my grandmother, Ellen Gartlan Harkins Donoghue, had several first cousins, 2 of whom were Catherine Sullivan and her sister Helen Sullivan. Catherine Sullivan was married twice, her first married name was something like Connelly...her second married name was O'Brien...Helen Sullivan married John J. Kuspiel...we knew she once lived in Glendale, Queens, NYC...but we have lost track of her and would really like to get back in touch with those relatives.
